Earth's Prayer
for the Year 2000
Let me live! Even though I have grown old! Even though I bear ugly
non-healing wounds because of your bombs! Even though I am soaked with
your poison and your blood! Even though I am suffering from confusion and
getting the seasons mixed up! Even though I have grown shaky in fear of
your cruelty and sometimes even shiver! Even though I am not able to
control my water balance. Even though my protective cover shows holes!
Please,
let me – who gave birth to you – go on living! Make use of the time
you spend with me to care for me so that I'll be able to be a good mother
to your children! Stop quarrelling over me, for a good mother is
able to love all her children.
Please let me live!!!

ZUM JAHR 2000
Laßt mich leben!
Auch wenn ich alt geworden bin! Auch, wenn ich durch Eure Bomben
häßliche, nicht heilende Wunden trage! Auch, wenn ich von Eurem Gift und
Blut durchtränkt bin! Auch, wenn ich unter Verwirrung leide und die
Jahreszeiten durcheinanderbringe! Auch, wenn ich aus Aungst vor Eurer
Grausamkeit gegenüber zittrig geworden bin und manchmal bebe! Auch, wenn
ich meinen Wasserhaushalt oft selbst nicht mehr kontrollieren kann! Auch,
wenn meine Schutzhülle schon Löcher aufweist!
Bitte, laßt mich, die ich Euch geboren habe, leben! Nützt die Zeit, die
Ihr mit mir verbringt, mich zu pflegen, damit ich auch Euren Kindern eine
gute Mutter sein kann! Hört auf, Euch untereinander um mich zu streiten,
denn eine gute Mutter kann alle ihre Kinder lieben!
Bitte laßt mich leben!
